Making a meal out of sweet potatoes since 1928

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Bruce's Yams? Where did the company name come from?

Bruce’s Yams was founded in 1928 by Bruce Foods in New Iberia, LA. For many years, the brand has been and continues to be the nation’s number one selling canned sweet potato. In 2013, Bruce Foods sold the Bruce’s Yams brand along with its sweet potato canning operations to McCall Farms, a flourishing canning operation in South Carolina. Now produced solely in Effingham, SC, Bruce’s uses only the freshest sweet potatoes planted and harvested by proud family-owned farms throughout North and South Carolina. The nearest farm is right across the road from our processing plant and the farthest is only three hours away.
